Christmas Movie Day

Jen and I spent yesterday watching Christmas movies. It was fabulous. On the marquee:

"In America I'm Prince William. Without the weird family."

"You don't smell like Santa. You smell like beef and cheese."

"Argentina has great beef. Beef and Nazis."

Also, Julia threw a knife at me. I'm not talking tossed; I'm talking carnival freak knife thrower spinning through the air straight at my head. Awesome.

Ok, what was the first one? The 2nd is obvious. And is the 3rd While you Were Sleeping? If so, I didn't realize it was a Christmas-type movie. It's been a long time since I've seen it.

The first is Love Actually.

And yes, While You Were Sleeping is a Christmas movie, but I think lots of people don't consider it one, because Jen and I just had this conversation with my mom and Linda. Lucy is especially sad about having no family at Christmas, and Peter's family takes her in and invites her for Christmas dinner and makes a stocking for her on their mantle. And that really makes her love them. It really does have a lovely Christmasy feel. I love that movie!

Still, I don't think I'd label it a Christmas movie. Christmas is simply woven into the larger plot. But the scenes depicting her Christmas loneliness are quite sad.

Megs, Love Actually, watch it! So good

I think it's as much of a Christmas movie as Love Actually is. Both deal with relationships, with Christmas as the backdrop and the catalyst for a lot of the plot developments. And both are awesome.
