Yes, it certainly appears so.
"Screw you all! Now I'm grabbing a beer and blowing this joint." So much more memorable than a letter of resignation.

"I don't think he'll be able to come back?" Seriously? Were you just gonna give him a clap on the wrist and say "No, don't do that?"
I would certainly hope that if he didn't intend on quitting, that the Airline was going to fire him.

OK. Now that I've seen the whole thing on the news, I kinda applaud the guy. But I still would've fired him if he didn't quit. At least he didn't go so psycho as to pull out a weapon on everyone!
