Chris, yes he does disappear into the role, but not enough for me to forget he was my beloved Stanley. I should have rushed home for a Julie and Julia/Imposters/Big Night film fest in order to recover, but instead I proceeded directly into a viewing of Crazy Heart. Now I've just arrived home and it's almost 1:30 AM and there's no time to do anything but pray I don't have dreams about that character tonight. Ack!
Liz, yes you would be disappointed with what was done to the book. Overall, it was a serviceable adaptation, but like in LOTR, Peter Jackson changed things that needn't have been changed (Wherefore, Faramir?), added things that oughtn't to have been added, and removed some really good stuff, but here he did all of those things to a much greater degree. It seems a shame when you have an amazing blueprint all laid out for you by Alice Sebold.
Linda, how's this weekend for you? The good news is that I can arrive Thursday night since I have Friday off. The horrendous news is that I will not have a little pumpkin in tow since Jen has to judge a forensic competition this weekend.
I am a big proponent of the Oxford comma, I hate when people say "I could care less" when they actually mean "I couldn't care less", I think people who live in the southern hemisphere are tragic because their Christmas comes in the summer.

I did not realize it was Stanley Tucci until the movie was over. I wish you the best of luck!
boo. I don't think I'll be able to watch it just on the chance that it could ruin how good the is book for me.
In Corncob, PA? Perhaps a visit east (where every movie is available to the cinephile) is in your future.
